Shower and Bath Installation Questions & Answers

Every homeowner knows the stress and hassle that comes with bathroom additions or new builds. Whether you’re after an enclosed or open shower, a clawfoot tub or a drop in bath, the challenge of finding a reliable plumber is inevitable. Goodnest can help connect you to reliable professionals in your area who can fix the problem as quickly as possible at the best price.

Goodnest plumbers are reliable, trustworthy and affordable. We’ve been doing this for a while, so from experience and based on 100’s of jobs, we’ve created a price list of various plumbing jobs so you know what to expect when hiring a plumber.

How much do plumbing repairs & services cost?

You may have been using the same plumber for the last few years but it doesn’t mean you’re getting the best bang for your buck. We’ve put together a comprehensive list of services and estimated pricing on each plumbing service. Please note, these prices should only be used as a guide and quotes will vary based on the actual plumbing situation, product specifications and individual work performed.

Pricing estimates:

  • Bath Installation: $1000 to $5600
  • Shower Installation: $1300 to $6400

This will depend on a variety of factors:

  • Labour charge - this is a fixed rate, exclusive of GST, usually between $90 and $120 per hour. There tends to be a minimum first-hour charge.
  • Parts and materials - if the plumber needs to pick up your chosen bath/shower from a store, you will be charged for what's required. There may be a mark-up as well.
  • Travel cost (this may be included in the labour charge) - if the plumber charges travel costs, this is usually charged from the time the plumber leaves for your home, to when they arrive back at their base after the job. This will also include the time it takes to visit a plumbing store to get any parts. Just clarify with your professional if travel time is included in their hourly rate.
  • GST - the total of 1, 2, 3 and 4 above will be added, and GST (15%) charged on the total.

How do I pay a plumber?

Most plumbers accept a range of payment methods, including:

  • Direct debit (Internet Banking)
  • Cheque
  • Cash with Invoice
  • Credit Card via the plumber’s website (surcharge may apply)
  • On-site EFTPOS
